Andrew Atkins is a one-of-a-kind attorney in the Vail Valley.​ Raised in Aspen, Andrew served in the U.S. Army for twenty-one years, first as a tank commander, later deploying to Afghanistan in the 10th Mountain Division, and culminating as a Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the President’s principal military advisor. ​​Following the Army, he served as a senior counsel with AmeriCorps supporting agency funding, relations with Congress, and internal investigations.

From 2023-2025, Andrew was a senior counsel with Garfield & Hecht, P.C., assisting clients with family law and divorce, construction defect and real estate litigation, contract drafting, property tax appeals, and business transactions and formation.
​
Andrew attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating 22nd in his class. At the University of Washington School of Law, Andrew was the managing editor of the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal. As an Army Judge Advocate, he obtained a Masters of Law in Military and International Law from the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is the recipient of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College's Harris Leadership Award for the College's highest combined academic and leadership achievement in 2015.

Andrew lives in Eagle and is a frequent volunteer and member of the board of directors for the Eagle Valley Community Foundation.
When Andrew isn't assisting his clients, you can find him on a bike or on skis, depending on the season.
